What is Brush Up?
Our 35th annual Brush Up! event is on Saturday, August 17, 2024. This event involves volunteer teams painting homes for over 25 low-income older adults and their families in Douglas and Sarpy Counties, continuing a tradition that began in 1989. The impact of this event goes beyond refreshing homes with a new coat of exterior paint—it also contributes to the improvement of neighborhoods. Brush Up! offers a unique team-building experience for our volunteer painters and has substantially impacted our community, with nearly 4,000 volunteer hours contributed annually.
Painting is crucial in our Brush Up! event, as it is essential for maintaining a home’s exterior. Not only does painting protect the siding from weather, insects, dust, and moisture, but it also helps prevent mold, mildew, and rot. This ensures that homeowners have safe and well-maintained houses with minimal exterior upkeep.
